Validating the e-Framework
January 2009 - December 2009
This activity focuses on validating the international e-Framework for Education and Research by reviewing the underlying technical model and documenting some real e-Research scenarios. For example, in collaboration with University of Melbourne e-Research Scholarship Centre (eSRC), the Link Affiliates Team will document Australian e-research workflows for the Mellon Project Bamboo. This work is supported by the final phase* of the RUBRIC and e-Framework Project and some additional funding**.

2005 - 2008
Funding* through the RUBRIC and e-Framework Project and additional funding** targeting international collaboration, allowed the Link Affiliates team to be actively involved in national and international standards activities, chairing and participating in committees and working groups so as to ensure that Australian education sector requirements were advocated in standards developments. Funding also supported Link Affiliates partnerships activities including the e-Framework, JISC and ADL partnerships.

RUBRIC and e-Framework
2005 - 2008
The RUBRIC Project* was funded to establish and develop institutional repositories in participating universities. With the collaboration of eight Australian and New Zealand Universities the "best" of available advice, experience and outcomes is now available for institutional repository development.
The RUBRIC Project incorporates best practice for institutional repositories that emerged through the MERRI and FRODO Projects.
Link Affiliates team members were involved in the RUBRIC Project, as part of the RUBRIC Board, as advisors on standards processes and sustainable solutions for digital formatting as well as organisers of events showcasing the RUBRIC Toolkit, a major output of the project delivering useful resources and tools for institutional repository managers. The Repositories component of the RUBRIC project was completed at the end of 2007.
The e-Framework for Education and Research is an international initiative of DEEWR, JISC, NZ MoE and SURF collaborating to develop a sustainable, open standards based service oriented technical framework to support the education and research. Australia's contribution to the e-Framework Initiative is funded through the RUBRIC Project.
